Overview

Indian Horse is a novel by Ojibwe author Richard Wagamese that was first published in 2012. The novel follows the life of Saul Indian Horse, a young Ojibwe boy in Canada who is forcibly taken from his family and placed in a residential school. As he grapples with the trauma of abuse and cultural erasure, Saul discovers solace in playing hockey. The novel explores themes of identity, trauma, and the impact of systemic oppression on Indigenous communities.
