Overview

American author Ray Bradbury’s science fiction story “A Sound of Thunder” was first published in Collier’s magazine in 1952. The story relies on a popular conceit—concerns about time travel—to explore the relationship between human actions and their consequences. “A Sound of Thunder,” at its root, is about consequences, both intended and unintended. The time travel technology Bradbury describes serves only as a vehicle with which he explores ideas about human actions and behavior.
